Biography

Siobhan Plouffe, from Rochester, NY, is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Saxophone Performance at Arizona State University under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Creviston where she also completed her Master's in Saxophone Performance. Siobhan completed her undergraduate degree in Saxophone Performance at the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Chien-Kwan Lin. In addition to Dr. Christopher Creviston and Chien-Kwan Lin, Siobhan has had the opportunity to study with Vincent David, SSG Doug O’Connor, Lars Mlekusch, Nicki Roman and many others. Siobhan also holds a Bachelor of Science in Audio and Music Engineering from the University of Rochester.

Siobhan is a founding member of Kodachrome, a multi award-winning saxophone quartet based in Phoenix, Arizona. Since it's formation in September of 2022, Kodachrome has placed first in the 10th Coltman Chamber Music Competition, 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and most recently received the Gold Medal at the 50th Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. As an ensemble, Kodachrome enjoys playing a wide range of music, but focuses on working with composers on pieces that move the instrument forward and provide an enriching experience for audiences. Kodachrome was recently invited to China as featured performers of the Chengdu International Sister City Festival and toured the midwest as a part of the Double Gold Tour sponsored by Fischoff.

At ASU, Siobhan is one of two teaching assistants for the saxophone studio where she is responsible for providing instruction to undergraduate students and teaching methods classes. Siobhan is also a co-director of the ASU Saxophone Choir and is a member of the ASU Wind Ensemble. Previously, she was a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble and the Eastman Saxophone Project. In addition to those groups, Siobhan holds the alto chair in the award winning Scio Quartet. Scio has been a prominent Rochester-based chamber ensemble with a focus on performing and teaching a wide range of music for an equally wide range of audiences. Scio has participated and won top prizes in a variety of competitions, including, but not limited to, bronze in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (2020), first prize in the National MTNA Young Artist Chamber Competition (2019) and first prize in the 198th Army Band Solo and Ensemble Competition (2018, 2019). The quartet has also performed as a featured ensemble at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and also played Octet for Wind Instruments by Igor Stravinsky at the 2020 NASA Conference with the Aruna Quartet.

As an engineer, Siobhan has recorded and produced for several award winning chamber groups, such as Sound Session and the Lotus Quartet, as well as a wide range of musicians in Rochester, NY and the Greater Phoenix Area. Most recently, she was an Audio Assistant at the soundSCAPE Music Festival in Blonay, Switzerland. She has also spent years working in the audio software world, interning for companies such as Quality Vision International and Apple, Inc. as a part of the Core Audio team. She is proficient in C/C++, Swift, Max/MSP and Python. She was a teaching assistant for the Interactive Music Programming course at the University of Rochester under the guidance of Ming-Lun Lee.

As a soloist, Siobhan received honorable mention for the 2023 MTNA Competition and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Arosa Music Academy in 2022. In 2020, Siobhan was the winner of the 2020 Empire State Collegiate Solo Competition and was given honorable mention in 2019. Siobhan has been growing her private studio and has taught numerous students ranging from young beginners to collegiate students. She is currently the saxophone instructor for the ASU Community Music School and the Phoenix Conservatory.
